In a grand ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu officially swore in Senator George Akume as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The event, which took place today (Wednesday), was attended by various dignitaries, including the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, and prominent serving and former governors such as Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa state and the immediate past SGF, Boss Mustapha.
Notable figures present at the occasion included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and Mrs Regina Akume, the spouse of the newly appointed SGF.
It should be recalled that President Tinubu had earlier announced Senator George Akume’s appointment as the new SGF.
Furthermore, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, was appointed as the Chief of Staff, while Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, assumed the position of Deputy Chief of Staff.
The announcement was made public through a statement issued by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the Director of Information at the State House in Abuja.
This significant appointment was revealed during President Tinubu’s meeting with the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Senator George Akume, who previously served as the Minister of Special Duties under former President Muhammadu Buhari, brings his wealth of experience to his new role as SGF.
