Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has cautioned organizers of the planned nationwide protest to proceed with care, emphasizing the unpredictability of such actions’ outcomes.

Onanuga has previously accused supporters of the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of orchestrating the protest. While acknowledging the democratic right to protest, Onanuga warned that such events could be hijacked by those looking to cause chaos.

Clarifying his stance on his social media post, Onanuga told Sunday Vanguard, “My post is just to highlight that the people organizing this so-called nationwide protest are members of the Labour Party, they are Peter Obi supporters, so that’s my take on it. It’s my opinion.”

Despite activist and 2023 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore’s assertion that no one can stop a movement whose time has come, Onanuga remained uninterested in the protest’s motivations. He expressed concern over the potential for mismanagement and unintended consequences, citing the unpredictability similar to the EndSARS protests.

Onanuga further elaborated, “When you are saying ‘revolution now,’ do they know the meaning of revolution? It means calling for a coup d’etat. Anybody can protest; it’s their right. My concern is about the potential for the protest to go awry.”

When asked for evidence supporting his claim that Peter Obi’s supporters are behind the protest, Onanuga urged people to analyze their social media activity, stating, “What I did was to do content analysis of what these people are posting as a journalist.”
