National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, has said President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms are restoring investor confidence, accelerating growth and positioning Nigeria to achieve a $1 trillion economy.

Nentawe made the remarks on Thursday at Colloquium 2.0, organised in his honour to celebrate his 58th birthday in Jos, Plateau State.

Defending the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, the APC chairman described them as bold reforms that previous governments had contemplated but lacked the political will to implement.

According to him, Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased from below $300 billion to about $375 billion within two years, reflecting the impact of the administration’s reforms.

He added that the country’s economy is now growing faster than its population for the first time in years, while renewed investor confidence has encouraged businesses to return.

“For the first time, our exports have exceeded our imports. Investors are returning to Nigeria because confidence has returned. The productive economy we have long desired is beginning to emerge,” he said.

Nentawe said the Federal Government’s investments in critical infrastructure—including deep seaports, railways, highways and inland dry ports—are designed to lower the cost of doing business, strengthen regional trade and position Nigeria as the economic hub of West and Central Africa.

He explained that the expanding infrastructure network would improve export capacity and unlock fresh economic opportunities, particularly through stronger links with neighbouring landlocked countries.

The APC chairman said the administration’s development agenda was focused on building a sustainable future rather than pursuing short-term political gains.

“President Tinubu has a master plan. He is not building for today alone; he is building a future that our children and grandchildren will inherit,” he said.

Nentawe also thanked APC leaders in Plateau State for supporting his political journey, particularly during the 2023 governorship election, which he described as the platform that propelled him onto the national stage.

He pledged to spearhead President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, describing himself as the president’s “chief campaigner.”

“I am deeply grateful to Mr President for believing in me. As National Chairman of the APC, I remain committed to marketing the vision of this administration and ensuring victory for our great party,” he added.

Earlier, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, represented by the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, praised Nentawe’s leadership, saying he had strengthened the party and expanded its membership.

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, described the APC chairman as an accomplished academic, technocrat and administrator whose leadership continues to inspire young Nigerians.

National Convener of the colloquium, Comrade Gaknung Seri, said the event was organised not only to celebrate Nentawe but also to preserve his contributions to education, leadership and national development for future generations.

He described the APC chairman as a symbol of selfless service, commitment to education and youth mentorship, adding that documenting his leadership journey would inspire emerging leaders.
