The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, extends his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s mission of revitalizing hope for Nigerians.

Wike conveyed his thanks following an inspection of ongoing rural road projects in Bwari and Abuja Municipal Area Councils, conducted on Thursday.

Acknowledging Tinubu’s significant support, Wike praised the efforts to enhance critical infrastructure and services for FCT residents.

The inspected projects encompassed the construction of a 7.2-kilometre road connecting Gaba and Tokulo communities in Bwari Area Council, alongside a five-kilomete access road linking Saburi 1 and 2 in Abuja Municipal Area Council.

These initiatives form part of a broader endeavor to develop 42 kilometres of rural roads spanning the six area councils of the FCT.

Wike emphasized that Tinubu’s agenda extends beyond urban areas, aiming to ensure rural communities also benefit from governmental initiatives.

Expressing satisfaction with progress, Wike affirmed commitment to completing all six projects across the area councils by year-end, facilitated by the 2023 emergency supplementary budget.

Furthermore, he highlighted plans to utilize the N1.28 trillion FCT 2024 statutory budget, once approved, to initiate additional road construction in the area councils.

Optimistic about the budget’s feasibility, Wike noted that 58 percent of the capital allocation would be allocated to ongoing projects, with the remaining 42 percent earmarked for critical new endeavors post-approval.
