Tragic Accident Involving Nigerian Railway Corporation Train and Lagos State Bus Rapid Transit Scheme Leaves Many Feared Dead and Injured
In the early hours of Thursday morning, a devastating accident occurred at the railway crossing at Shogunle, Lagos State. Reports indicate that a bus from the Lagos State Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) scheme collided with a Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) train, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.
Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the BRT bus attempted to cross the railway track at Shogunle when the train was already in close proximity. Tragically, the bus was crushed by the oncoming train, and dragged along the rail track up to PwD area.
The number of casualties from the accident is currently unknown, but a large crowd of sympathisers have already gathered to assist in the evacuation of the dead and injured.
