In an ongoing development at Polling Unit 023 FHA Festac, Lagos, voters are protesting against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials over concerns of electoral malpractice.
The voters have insisted that the officials should not leave until the result of the polling unit is uploaded on the INEC server to ensure transparency and fairness in the ongoing gubernatorial elections.
According to reports, the crowd even refused to allow INEC to upload the result offline, citing concerns of previous instances where the result of the polling unit was allegedly doctored during the presidential election.
The polling unit reportedly saw the Labour Party (LP) scoring 74 votes, the All Progressives Congress (APC) scoring 13, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scoring 4.
As tension mounts, the official called police and customs troopers who could not even quell the anger of the voters.
As at 5.30pm, the officials are still trying to upload the result while a lot of interventions are being made to allow them to upload offline.
The situation remains tense, and observers are watching closely as the gubernatorial elections proceed in Lagos State.
