Warri Chief and APC Chieftain, Chief Ayiri Emami, emphasized to President Bola Tinubu that combating criminality in the Niger Delta requires concurrent infrastructure development during a recent meeting.

Chief Ayiri raised concerns about the poor state of infrastructure in Delta State, particularly highlighting the Warri to Escravos road and the urgent need to dredge the Koko and Warri ports.

Addressing reporters on his visit to the State House, Chief Ayiri disclosed that his discussions with President Tinubu revolved around promises made during the campaign, including the construction of the Warri to Escravos road.

He also cited issues related to the Warri port and the problematic pipe at bar mouth affecting dredging.

The Chief highlighted the collaboration between oil-producing communities and the federal government in curbing oil theft, noting a significant reduction of about 80 to 90%.

He stressed the importance of providing essential infrastructure such as roads, water, electricity, and hospitals in these communities to sustain progress.

In advocating for peaceful means, Chief Ayiri discouraged destructive actions, stating, “I will not encourage anybody to go and break federal government facility or to go and break a pipe.”

He urged a strategic approach, emphasizing that focusing on infrastructure is essential for sustainable development in the region.
