Abuja — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered security agencies and the Department of Development Control to dismantle unauthorised beer parlours around Asokoro, citing intelligence reports of potential security threats.

Wike issued the directive on Friday after a security meeting with the FCT Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.

He said the administration would act on the intelligence to prevent potential criminal activities from escalating, adding that the businesses had no official approval to operate in the affected areas.

“We will not allow that. There is no such approval, and we will not permit it,” the minister said.

Wike directed Development Control to work with security agencies to clear the locations immediately, warning that the administration would not wait for security problems to emerge before taking action.

“We have directed Development Control, in conjunction with security agencies, to go and chase them away before we begin to have security problems. We will not allow that at all,” he said.

The minister said the announcement was intended to inform residents of the administration’s position on unauthorised businesses and its efforts to maintain law and order in the nation’s capital.
