The Yobe State Police Command says it has recorded a 70 per cent reduction in crime in the third quarter of 2025.

Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ado, speaking in Damaturu on Tuesday, attributed the drop to coordinated patrols, raids on criminal hideouts, and enhanced visibility policing across towns and villages.

He said the success was made possible through synergy between the police, sister security agencies, vigilante groups, and the cooperation of residents.

Ado noted that the command had put in place proactive security measures ahead of the Ember months, a period when crime rates typically rise nationwide. These, he explained, include grassroots engagements with Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and officers in charge of outposts to strengthen crime analysis and response.

The commissioner commended the Yobe State Government for its support and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
