Governor Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers State has reassured his dedication to enhancing the well-being of state civil servants.
Addressing a group of workers at the Government House, Fubara apologized for the delay in disbursing the approved N100,000 Christmas largesse, attributing it to telecommunication network challenges faced by the handling bank.
Represented by the state Head of Service, George Nweke, Fubara acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the delay but emphasized the noble intention behind the gesture.
He clarified that the money has been paid by the state government, with delays encountered in the banking system.
Despite challenges, the governor’s representative assured workers that the disbursement issue would be resolved promptly, with the expectation that all would receive the funds by Friday.
Fubara encouraged the workers to remain ambassadors of the state, emphasizing their importance and hinting at addressing other pending issues, including unpaid arrears.
The group, primarily comprising teachers, expressed their grievances to the governor after unsuccessful attempts to resolve the matter with their organizations and banks.
