An Abia State High Court in Ukwa has handed down death sentences to two ex-members of the Abia Vigilante group, Bakassi Boys, named Ugochukwu Amaugo and Udo Ogah. The court found them guilty of conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder dating back to August 30, 2014. The victims, Temple Nwakanma and Martins Azih, were allegedly apprehended by the convicts, who claimed to have handed them over to unidentified Army personnel. The court ruled that the convicts failed to prove they delivered the victims to the military and sentenced them to death by hanging.
