The All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that there will be no automatic ticket for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for November 16, 2024.

The APC national spokesman, Felix Morka, emphasized the party’s democratic principles, stating that nominations must be earned through a fair process.

Morka highlighted the party’s commitment to competition, stating, “We don’t give free gifts in APC; we contest and we compete.”

He noted that any candidate’s preference is subject to the democratic decision of party members participating in the direct or indirect primary.

The issue of zoning for the governorship ticket in Ondo is yet to be discussed, according to Morka.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed office on December 27, 2023, following the demise of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, and is constitutionally permitted to run for the office in the upcoming election.
