In a bid to address the growing menace of kidnapping and other crimes causing fear in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, launched the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) on Wednesday.

Egbetokun emphasized that the initiative stems from diligent planning to enhance the security architecture in the nation’s capital and beyond.

The IGP expressed concern over recent kidnapping incidents in Abuja and outlined the SIS’s comprehensive approach, involving 1,000 personnel in each state, sophisticated arms, drones, and vehicles for deployment.

The operation aims not only for immediate intervention but also community-oriented policing to strengthen the bonds between the police and communities.

Egbetokun reassured Nigerians of improved security, collaborating with the military and other security agencies. He called for unity against forces threatening societal fabric, expressing hope for a safer FCT, its environs, and the entire nation.
