Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ogbomoso zone of Oyo State have staged a unity rally, pledging overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu and the party ahead of the next general elections.
The rally, held at Oja’gbo, drew party leaders, serving and former office holders, and members of the Oyo State Executive Council led by APC Chairman, Alhaji Olaide Abass. The event signalled renewed cohesion within the party and a push to reclaim political dominance in the state.
Among those in attendance were Senators Abdulfatai Buhari, Sarafadeen Alli, Yunus Akintunde, Ayoade Adeseun and Hosea Agboola; former Oyo State First Lady and Ambassador-designate, Mrs Florence Ajimobi; former Sports Minister, Chief Sunday Dare; and several serving and former lawmakers.
In his welcome address, Hon. Odebunmi described Ogbomoso as a stronghold of progressive politics, assuring supporters that the APC would intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
Former state chairman, Chief Akin Oke, urged party members to put aside personal interests and maintain unity, saying the APC must return to power in Oyo State after years in opposition.
Delivering the keynote address, Senator Teslim Folarin, Oyo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, called on members to take President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots.
“Our gathering today sends a clear message that the APC in Oyo State is united and focused,” Folarin said, expressing confidence that the party would secure victory in 2027.
Mrs Ajimobi also appealed for sustained unity, saying the APC remained the most formidable political force in the state.
The rally ended with the formal endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term and the reception of hundreds of defectors from other parties across Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, Oriire, Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere local government areas.
