Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for participating in last week’s elections.
Atiku also appealed to Nigerians to continue their pursuit of a just and egalitarian society by coming out in record numbers to vote for PDP candidates in the upcoming Governorship and National Assembly elections on Saturday.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, Atiku commended Nigerians for their resilience, tenacity, and courage during the February 25 presidential election.
He also expressed his appreciation for their faith in rescuing and rebuilding the country, as envisioned by the PDP. Atiku, however, stated that the result of the February 25 presidential election, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was grossly tainted and did not reflect the will of the electorates, as attested to by both local and international observers.
He noted that INEC’s action was a clear breach of not only the 2022 Electoral Act but also of its own guidelines.
Despite this, Atiku urged Nigerians to remain resolute in the defense of their democracy and exercise their right to vote.
He urged PDP supporters to turn out in large numbers on March 11 to cast their votes peacefully and in strict compliance with the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.
Atiku also called on Nigerians to be vigilant and protect their votes after casting them.
