Barcelona will continue to play at their Johan Cruyff training ground this weekend as they await final permits to partially reopen the revamped Camp Nou.

The Spanish champions face Getafe on Sunday at the 6,000-capacity ground, where their women’s team regularly plays. It will be their second straight home game at the venue after thrashing Valencia 6–0 there last weekend.

“The club continues to work intensely to obtain the administrative permits required for the opening of the Spotify Camp Nou in the coming weeks,” Barcelona said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Catalan side plans to reopen the stadium with reduced capacity while extensive renovation work continues. The €1.5 billion project is scheduled for completion in 2026.

Camp Nou has been closed since the end of the 2022/23 season. Initially set to reopen in November 2024, the return was delayed due to construction setbacks and licensing issues. During that period, Barcelona played their home fixtures at the Olympic Stadium on Montjuïc hill.

The club hopes that a partial reopening of Europe’s largest football stadium will take place before the end of this year, restoring some of the atmosphere lost during their stay away.
