Breaking News: National Chairman of PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, Suspended by Party for Alleged Anti-Party Activities
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, following allegations of anti-party activities.
The suspension was announced by the Ward Executive of the party in Igyorov Ward of Gboko Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue state.
In a statement read by the Ward Secretary, Mr. Vangeryina Dooyum, on behalf of the Ward Chairman, Kashi Philip, it was revealed that Dr. Ayu’s conduct during the just-concluded general elections was reviewed, and it was discovered that he worked against the success of the party in Igyorov Council Ward.
The statement further noted that Dr. Ayu failed to pay his Annual Subscription Fees as provided under Section 8 (9) of the PDP’s constitution in 2017 (As Amended), did not vote during the Governorship and State Assembly Elections held on March 18, 2023, and that many of his closest allies worked for the opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Consequently, the Ward Executive passed a Vote of No Confidence on Dr. Ayu and suspended him as a member of the party with immediate effect, effective from March 24, 2023.
