President Muhammadu Buhari received UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday.
He was greeted by high-ranking government officials. He had earlier in the day paid a visit to the UN House in Abuja, where he was joined by some of the agency’s top executives and ambassadors.
He said “The best thing we can do for peace is to reintegrate those, that in a moment of despair, became terrorists but want to become now citizens and to contribute to the well-being of their brothers and sisters” at a gathering for an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.
The UN scribe is also anticipated to take part in the wreath-laying ceremony in memory of the victims of the suicide bombing on August 26, 2011.
