In response to speculations surrounding the detention of suspended Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, the Department of State Services (DSS) confirmed on Saturday that he was not in their custody.

Dr. Peter Afunanya, the spokesperson for the DSS, addressed these claims in an email, stating that Emefiele was currently not with the DSS.

This clarification comes after several online media outlets reported Emefiele’s alleged arrest shortly after his suspension by the President.

It remains uncertain whether Emefiele was invited to appear before the DSS, which had expressed intentions to take action against him earlier this year for undisclosed reasons.
