A woman identified as Modupe Alasin has died after allegedly being beaten by her husband in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State.
Witnesses said the assault began after an argument over her lateness to the farm. One source, who requested anonymity, told reporters that the woman screamed for help as her husband flogged her repeatedly.
The witness added that the man later instructed her to fetch water from a nearby stream, but she collapsed beside it and died from exhaustion.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, said the suspect had been arrested and an investigation was underway.
