In a recent meeting between the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, and the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Sadik Abubakar, a crucial matter was discussed.

The Emir emphasized the importance of conducting thorough personality profiles for candidates seeking admission into the academy.

During the meeting held in Kano, the Emir stressed that ensuring the enrollment of candidates with exemplary character is vital to prevent exacerbating the already volatile security situation in the country.

To achieve this, he called upon the academy to prioritize candidates recommended by the palace, assuring that the traditional institution has meticulously verified their character and conduct through rigorous screening processes.

On a different note, the Commandant expressed his condolences to the Emir over the loss of Abubakar Galadanchi, who was related to the Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Bayero.

The Commandant assured the Emir that the academy is committed to admitting candidates with impeccable characters in order to maintain the highest standards within the police force.

Furthermore, the Commandant revealed that the academy is making strides in its educational offerings. Plans are in place to introduce the Faculty of Education in the institution’s course curriculum.

Additionally, the academy is looking into providing Diploma and Certificate Courses in Police Science, particularly in the field of forensic studies. This initiative aims to reduce costs for officers who currently travel abroad for specialized courses in this domain.

The Emir of Kano’s call for enhanced scrutiny in the selection of police cadets and the academy’s efforts to expand educational opportunities mark significant developments in the quest to strengthen law enforcement and maintain the security of the nation.
