The Federal Government has praised Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his administration’s efforts to enhance infrastructure in the South East. During a joint inspection tour with Governor Mbah, Minister of Works Engr. Dave Umahi emphasized the importance of projects like the Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Port Harcourt expressways, as well as the dualisation of the Enugu-Abakaliki road.

Umahi expressed satisfaction with the progress of these projects and commended Governor Mbah for his proactive measures, including the ongoing construction of a flyover at Emene NNPC Depot and the dualisation of the Abakpa Nike-Ugwogo-Opi Nsukka road. He also set a deadline of October 2024 for the completion of the twin-bridge at New Artisan on the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway, with contractors CCECC praised for their work quality and speed.

The Minister highlighted the Governor’s dedication to improving road infrastructure, noting the Governor’s willingness to complete parts of the 61km road starting from Naira Triangle under the FG’s Highway Development Management Initiative (HDMI). Governor Mbah thanked the FG for its support and emphasized the importance of good roads for regional economic development.
