In a somber turn of events, Alhaji Ghalli Na’abba, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, breathed his last at the age of 65. The news of his demise surfaced around 3 a.m. on Wednesday at a hospital in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Na’abba, a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, entered the House of Representatives in 1999, representing the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency of Kano State. His journey to becoming the Speaker of the House was marked by victory and the support of fellow House members-elect from Kano and the North West geo-political zone.
Born into the family of Alhaji Umar Na’Abba, a respected businessman in Tudun Wada, Kano City, on September 27, 1958, Na’abba inherited a legacy of discipline and Islamic scholarship from his father. His upbringing instilled in him the values of hard work, entrepreneurship, religious devotion, prudence, and modesty.
