The Imo State chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on workers in the state to vote out the incumbent governor, Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming November 2023 governorship election.

The call was made in Owerri by the state Publicity Secretary, Collins Opuozor, while addressing the media on the recent total blackout declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state.

The PDP accused the Uzodimma administration of plunging the state into darkness for the second time in two months, leaving businesses crippled and the economy in shambles.

The party further alleged that the Uzodimma-led government had oppressed and deprived workers in the state of their rights, and failed to protect citizens from violent attacks and killings.

The PDP claimed that 11,000 workers and 10,000 pensioners in the state had been denied salaries and pensions for several months, and many had died as a result.

The party urged Imo workers to stand with them in their bid to end the suffering of workers and pensioners in the state.
