In a recent press briefing, the Kaduna State Police Command highlighted its accomplishments in maintaining peace and security in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muhammed Jalige, announced that a total of 503 suspects had been apprehended for various criminal activities between May and June 2023.
The command expressed its commitment to creating a conducive environment for business and agricultural activities to thrive in Kaduna State and beyond.
The current state of peace and tranquility in the region reflects the relentless efforts of the police force to safeguard the lives and properties of the residents.
The arrests made by the Kaduna State Police Command encompassed a wide range of crimes, including armed banditry, armed robbery, theft, rape, and vandalism of rail tracks.
As part of the investigations, law enforcement officers were able to recover significant items such as firearms, ammunition, motor vehicles, tricycles, and stolen livestock.
One notable arrest occurred on June 15, 2023, when a police patrol team, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), apprehended a group of suspects smoking marijuana in an unfinished building at the Rigasa Black spot.
The subsequent search led to the discovery of two sharp scissors in their possession, raising suspicions of their involvement in criminal activities.
Another case involved the reported kidnapping and subsequent murder of Kabiru Mohammed.
The victim’s brother, Ismail Mohammed, lodged a complaint at the Saminaka Divisional Police Headquarters, alleging that Ibrahim Isa, also known as “yellow,” and an accomplice named Mai-kunu (currently at large), had abducted Kabiru and demanded a ransom of five million naira.
Despite the family paying a sum of one hundred and twenty thousand naira, the perpetrators went ahead and killed the victim.
Furthermore, a distraught mother, Bara’atu Muazu, approached the Divisional Police Headquarters to report the abduction and sexual assault of her daughter, Sa’adatu Tahir, along with another minor, Firdausi Suleiman.
The suspects had allegedly confined the victims in a room for over three weeks and committed acts of sexual abuse against them.
In a separate incident, Dr. Rakiya Yusuf Sagir recounted her experience of falling victim to a fraudulent act at a Jaiz Bank branch on Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna.
She had visited the bank to carry out a transaction using an automated teller machine (ATM) when an unknown person deceitfully switched her debit card and stole it.
Within minutes, she received two debit alerts totaling four hundred and four thousand naira.
Following an investigation, the State Intelligence Bureau of the Kaduna State Command arrested Paul Agu Daniel and Mike Ogah, both male individuals residing in Kaduna State. The suspects voluntarily confessed to the offense
The Kaduna State Police Command urged the public to refrain from engaging in violence and encouraged prompt reporting of any criminal activities within their communities.
By collaborating with law enforcement agencies and actively participating in the fight against crime, citizens can contribute to the overall success of the command’s efforts to ensure a safer Kaduna State.
