Hon. Ahmed Adamu Saba, who represents Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency in Kwara State, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and security chiefs to swiftly intervene and rescue his constituency from the surge of banditry and kidnappings.
Saba, in a statement released by his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Bello Hamidu, expressed deep sorrow over the persistent attacks, extending condolences to victims’ families and urging calm among residents.
The lawmaker detailed the deteriorating security situation: in Tashagi community, bandits killed a cattle rearer and abducted five of his children, whose whereabouts remain unknown. In Gbugbu community along Ndeji road, a businessman and his manager have been held captive for over two weeks, with kidnappers demanding more ransom and threatening harm.
“My people can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed,” Saba lamented. “To go to their farms or conduct their businesses has become nearly impossible for fear of being attacked.”
He described the situation as “unacceptable” and stressed the urgent need for government intervention to restore security and normalcy. “I’m appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our performing Governor, and the Inspector General of Police to come to our rescue,” he said.
Saba assured residents that he would continue to collaborate with both state and federal authorities to safeguard lives and property, and to ensure peace is returned to the affected communities.
The lawmaker also sympathised with those directly affected by the attacks and encouraged everyone to remain hopeful, vowing that these inhumane activities “can no longer be accepted.”
