Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has informed the State House of Assembly of his plan to embark on a one-month vacation from August 29 to September 29.
In a letter read during an emergency plenary on Tuesday, Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin said the notification complied with Section 190(1) of the Nigerian Constitution, which requires governors to formally transmit notice before going on leave.
Makinde directed his deputy, Bayo Lawal, to serve as acting governor during his absence.
“I shall resume duty upon my return from vacation on Monday, September 29,” Makinde wrote.
Ogundoyin assured the legislature’s support for Lawal and reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional order and continuity of governance.
