The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State says nearly 67,000 residents have pre-registered for the Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) within the first week of the exercise.

Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Adeniran Tella disclosed the figures on Tuesday in Ibadan during the launch of a CVR sensitisation campaign at the commission’s collation centre.

He described the turnout as “impressive,” noting it reflected residents’ eagerness to participate in the democratic process.

The CVR resumed on August 18 with online pre-registration, while physical registration began a week later. Eligible citizens, including those who turned 18, can complete the process at INEC’s state office or any of the 33 local government area offices.

Tella urged already registered voters not to crowd centres unnecessarily, noting that card replacement, transfers, or corrections could be processed online via the INEC portal.

The sensitisation campaign, he added, is intended to simplify the registration process and boost awareness ahead of the 2027 elections.
