In a recent development, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, has issued a direct order to the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State to apprehend popular Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti.
The arrest comes after a video surfaced showing Kuti assaulting a uniformed police officer.
IGP Baba has further instructed a prompt and thorough investigation into the underlying causes of the assault, both immediate and remote, with the intention of prosecuting the suspect to the fullest extent of the law.
Addressing the nation, IGP Usman Alkali Baba emphasized that acts of contempt or disrespect towards symbols of authority will not be tolerated.
He reassured Nigerians that those who commit such despicable crimes will be swiftly brought to justice.
