Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and revered Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Yekini Ayoade Adeojo, calling his death the end of a glorious political era.

In a heartfelt statement, Governor Makinde paid tribute to the late leader, affectionately known as “Pa Yekini Adeojo,” who was the PDP Governorship standard bearer during the 1999 election. “I have just been informed about the passing of our father, Pa Yekini Adeojo. I condole with the family of Alhaji Adeojo, the PDP in Oyo State and the good people of the state,” Makinde said.

Describing Adeojo as one of the last great men standing, the governor recalled his immense contributions as a political, community, and religious leader who helped shape Oyo State and Nigeria at large. “Baba’s death marks the end of a glorious political era, as he was one of the last great men standing in the state. He will be greatly missed by the PDP family, where he has been our leader and icon for over two decades,” Makinde remarked.

Governor Makinde further noted that the late chieftain’s departure creates a significant vacuum in the political landscape. “His death will also leave a vacuum in our great state and Nigeria, because Baba gave his best to serving our state and nation,” he added.

Offering his condolences, Makinde prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family and pledged that the legacy of Adeojo’s commitment to service and patriotism would continue to inspire future generations. “It is my prayer that God will grant repose to his soul, grant him Aljanah Firdaus, and uphold the family he left behind,” the governor concluded.

As the state and political community mourn the loss of a true icon, tributes continue to pour in for a man whose leadership and dedication were instrumental in shaping the PDP and the broader political discourse in Oyo State and Nigeria.
