Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives, has called on governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to immediately rally in Rivers State to show solidarity with Governor Siminalayi Fubara. This comes amid allegations of federal agents attempting to interfere with the upcoming local government elections in the state.

Ugochinyere expressed his concerns via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, accusing federal agents of trying to undermine the democratic rights of Rivers’ citizens. He criticized what he described as “treasonable actions” by police officers allegedly involved in a failed attempt to tamper with electoral materials.

The lawmaker urged opposition governors to take decisive action, stating: “Serious opposition governors would have flown to Rivers State right now and be seen with Governor Fubara side by side as a show of strong solidarity.”

He warned that the situation in Rivers could set a dangerous precedent, threatening the democratic process in other states, urging PDP governors to act now to defend democracy.
