The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 65-year-old man, Akpan Godwin, for allegedly being in possession of 1,100 rounds of live ammunition in Nkpor, Onitsha.
Police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Saturday that operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Akwuzu, apprehended the suspect on Friday following credible intelligence.
During interrogation, Godwin reportedly admitted to involvement in the illegal sale of ammunition and named other individuals allegedly linked to the trade.
Ikenga said a manhunt has been launched for the fleeing accomplices, assuring the public that the command has intensified efforts to dismantle the network.
He added that updates on the investigation would be made public in due course.
