The Katsina State Police Command has arrested seven suspected armed robbers and recovered a cache of weapons, dismantling a syndicate allegedly behind a series of shop break-ins and thefts across the state capital.

The arrests followed a reported burglary at a shop located behind the Katsina Central Market. Detectives from the Sabon Gari Division traced the suspects to a hideout in Shararrar Pipe Quarters, where they were apprehended, police said.

Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu named the suspects as Abubakar Dayyabu (19), also known as Antu; Abdulrahman Danjuma (25), alias Aguero; Dahiru Nuhu (21), alias Tsoho; Muh’d Yahaya (21), alias Lucas; Abubakar Idris (20), alias Makale; Bello Babale (34), alias Na Ande; and Shafi’i Lawal (20), alias Dan Fefe.

A search of the hideout yielded two cutlasses, two sharp knives, two clubs, an iron bar and a black beret, according to the police.

Sadiq said the suspects remain in custody and will be charged in court after investigations are concluded. He added that the command remains committed to tackling crime and protecting residents across Katsina State.
