Protesters staged a significant demonstration on Tuesday at the Port Harcourt home of Nyesom Wike, former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). In a video circulating on social media, demonstrators are seen chanting and holding placards as they sit on the paved road in front of Wike’s mansion, which was heavily guarded by police officers.
Wike, who has vocally opposed the nationwide protests, recently attempted to prevent demonstrations in the capital. During a ministerial engagement with FCT youths from Abuja South Federal Constituency in Kwali Area Council on July 29, he announced plans to engage with youths and stakeholders in Bwari and Gwagwalada Area Councils in the coming days.
