Port Harcourt – The Rivers State Government has directed that all government offices close by 12 noon on Friday, August 29, 2025, ahead of the Local Government Elections taking place on Saturday, August 30.
The directive, issued through a circular signed by the Acting Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi S. I. Brown, followed an order from the State Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, CFR.
According to the circular, the decision is to allow public servants ample time to travel and participate in the elections by casting their votes.
“All Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies are requested to ensure strict compliance by bringing this directive to the attention of their staff,” the circular stated.
The Rivers State Government assured that the move underscores its commitment to enabling civil servants to perform their civic responsibilities in the democratic process.
