The Rivers Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended 295 drug suspects in 2023, comprising 237 males and 58 females, according to the commander, Mr. Ahmed Mamuda.

The command seized a total of 562.239kg of assorted illicit drugs, including cocaine, heroin, hemp, methamphetamine, tramadol, codeine, Rohypnol, and Pentazocine.

Mamuda reported that the command secured convictions for 115 males and 21 females, with N1.2 million forfeited to the agency, while 47 cases remain pending.

Additionally, the command successfully rehabilitated 53 drug-dependent males, providing counselling and aftercare treatment to 112 males and 35 females.

The year 2023 also witnessed 118 drug abuse awareness and sensitization programs conducted by the command.
