Meta’s family of apps, including Facebook and Instagram, experienced widespread technical problems, with thousands of users reporting issues such as being logged out, trouble logging in, and feed not refreshing. According to Downdetector, error reports spiked after 10:30 a.m. ET, with more than 500,000 error reports received by 11 a.m. About 76% of the problems reported by Facebook users were related to login issues. The outage extended to Meta’s Messaging platform and Threads. Elon Musk, owner of X (formerly Twitter), took the opportunity to troll Meta for the outage on the rival social media platform. A Meta spokesman acknowledged the issues and mentioned they were working on resolving them.
