President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted the Nigerian military full authority to take decisive action against all threats to the nation’s unity, including terrorists, insurgents, bandits, and separatist elements.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the grand finale of the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) in Kaduna, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for the Armed Forces in their mission to safeguard Nigeria.
“You have my full authorization and the trust of the Nigerian people to confront and defeat those who seek to undermine our nation,” he declared.
He described the escalating insecurity as an existential threat and vowed to equip the military with modern weaponry, actionable intelligence, and enhanced welfare.
The president paid tribute to fallen soldiers and those wounded in action, promising that their sacrifices would not be in vain. He also praised the resilience of military families, particularly NAOWA and NASWA, for their role on the home front.
“We have no other country but Nigeria. We must not mortgage our future to division, indifference, or delay,” Tinubu said.
Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, emphasized the Army’s renewed focus on professionalism and soldier welfare under the theme: “Developing the Soldier First Concept.”
The event featured tactical displays, military hardware exhibitions, and a strong show of operational readiness.
Dignitaries included Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Defence Ministers, past Army Chiefs, traditional rulers, and lawmakers, reinforcing the federal commitment to national security.
NADCEL 2025 underscored a pivotal message: Nigeria’s Armed Forces are fully empowered and ready to neutralize all threats to its sovereignty.
