In a recent development, President Bola Tinubu has formally written to the Senate, urging them to conduct the screening and subsequently confirm the candidates nominated for the governing board of the North East Development Commission.
Yesterday, the President of the Senate, Senator GodsWill Akpabio, took the podium to read President Tinubu’s letter, signaling the administration’s intent to proceed with the nominations.
The list of nominees includes notable figures such as General Paul Tarfa, who is slated to serve as the Chairman representing North East Adamawa. Other members include Hon Gambo Maikyau from North East Taraba, Abdullahi Abbas from North West Kano, Zaf Steven Ondora from North Central Benue, and Chief Mutiu Lawal Areh from South West Lagos.
Additional appointees encompass Samuel Ifeanyi Onuigbo from South East Abia, Frank Achinike Owo from South South Rivers, and Mohamed Goni Alkali, who has been nominated as the Managing Director representing North East Borno.
Furthermore, certain candidates are up for re-appointment, namely Musa Yashi as Executive Director of Humanitarian Affairs representing North East Bauchi, Ahmed Abdulsalam Yahaya as Executive Director of Operations for North East Gombe, and Dr Abubakar Garba Ileah as Executive Director of Admin and finance for North East Yobe.
