Sim Fubara, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has been declared the winner of the Rivers State Governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The election, which took place in the Niger Delta state, saw Fubara secure a total of 302,614 votes to emerge victorious.

The result was announced on Monday by INEC officials who had collated results from all the local government areas of the state at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.

Fubara was supported by the incumbent Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress (APC) trailed behind Fubara with 95,274 votes, while Beatrice Itubo of the Labour Party came in third with 22,224 votes. The election results showed that the PDP won by a significant margin.
